8 Interesting Things I Learned About American Culture

Introduction

I’m the kind of person who loves to learn new things about other cultures, so when I was given the opportunity to travel abroad for a month, I jumped at it. When my plane landed in America and I stepped off into this new world, everything seemed so different! But after going out with friends and talking with locals, I realized that behind all these differences there are also many similarities between us – we’re all human beings just like each other! Here are some interesting things I learned about American culture:

I learned that people in America are very stressed about time.

I learned that Americans are very time conscious. They are always in a rush and have a lot of things to do, but not enough time to do them. This means that they are always late for appointments and rushing to get to work on time.

Americans also seem very stressed about the present moment because there is always something else waiting for them just around the corner. For example, if an American has an appointment at 3 p.m., he/she will probably arrive 10 minutes early just incase something goes wrong with traffic or public transportation (which it often does).

I learned that cars are the most important things in their lives.

You’ll find cars everywhere in America. There are hundreds of different models, and people love their cars so much that they give them names, like “The Chevette” or “The Escort.” I learned that owning a car is a status symbol for Americans–it shows that you can afford it, and it makes you look good in front of other people.

It was also interesting to learn how important transportation is for Americans: if you don’t have access to public transportation or your own car, life becomes much harder!

I learned there are lots of job opportunities.

There are many different types of jobs in America. You can get a job in any field, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.

There are also lots of opportunities for those who have no college degree but want to work as well. You will be able to find many different types of jobs that don’t require a college education but still pay well enough for you to live comfortably.

I learned that Americans have a passion for technology and new things.

Americans love to buy new things, especially technology. They want the latest phone or computer, even if they already have one that works perfectly well. They are always looking for the newest and best technology, even if it doesn’t make sense to do so–for example, buying an iPhone 6 when your current phone works just fine!

They also like to improve their lives with new technology: for example, using apps on their phones instead of paper calendars or maps; using Siri instead of having conversations with other people face-to-face; using Fitbits or other fitness trackers so they can monitor how many steps they take each day (and maybe even compete against friends).

I learned that the living conditions are better than in other countries, but it’s expensive to live there.

• Americans are very friendly and welcoming. They want new friends from other countries (like you!) to come visit them in America because they know how interesting it must be for foreigners who have never been here before! You should try making some new friends when you get here!
• Americans are generous with their time, money, food etc., which means that even though there may be long lines at restaurants or stores sometimes due to high demand during busy periods such as Thanksgiving weekend; most people will still let others go ahead of them when there isn’t enough room left on line anymore because they don’t mind waiting longer than expected when helping others out like this makes everyone feel good inside knowing how much effort went into helping another person out even though it wasn’t necessary at all since there aren’t any rules saying anyone has claim over anything else besides themselves anyway…”

People love large portions of food

I’ve learned that Americans love food. Not only do they eat a lot of it, but they also seem to be very competitive about who can make the biggest or most delicious meal. I’ve seen some people make cakes that serve 20 people! It’s like nothing else I’ve ever seen before in my life and it really made me think about how different our cultures are when it comes to celebrating special occasions with food.

Conclusion

So there you have it! These are some of the most interesting things I learned about American culture. For me, it was really eye-opening to see how different it is from my own country. Some things like driving on the wrong side of the road and eating large portions of food seem silly at first glance, but once you start thinking about them more deeply they make sense.
